Foxy Blue and I are doing a personal swap, and she asked me to make a doll with her daughter as my inspiration. How could I refuse? Her daughter is adorable! I won't be posting any pictures of her her to keep Foxy's life private. She can do that later if she wants, but if I did a good enough job, you'll be able to see how adorable her daughter is through my art work.

Meet Sapphire. The Flower fairy. Foxy Blue said that her favorite color is aqua and her favorite flower is a peony. So this doll has a peony inspired dress with peony leaves on the skirt and dew drops on her bodice.

Her wings are 4 layers of iridescent organza with free motion machine stitching.

Her feet turned out so cute I had to leave her barefoot, but she has a bit of a French pedicure. LOL!

More construction pictures can be found on my blog if you're interested in all of that kind of stuff. Just look through some of the previous posts.

She has a small pocket sewn to her back under her dress that the dowel fits into, so that she can dance. This kind of doll can also have a string attached to her back, so that it appears that she is flying.
Sapphire is made from an original pattern that I drafted just for this doll.

Isn't she divine? Oh my goodness. I just love her to pieces. And seriously...this idea for a swap just came about last week. You've got incredible skill and I'm soooooo thrilled! Can't wait to start that painting for you! I've been giving it thought all weekend. I just hope it's as worthy as this awesome doll!! And I have no problems posting pics of miss Sapphire. I'll go grab one now!!
