though everything said in this post is true; that we should be grateful, keep in the spirit of the swap, not everyone has the same tastes etc, if our partner gives us something we specifically asked not to get, I feel it comes down to them not reading the questionaire carefully.

if someone has asked not to get A) a specific color B) a specific size C) or a peticular item all together, we should read the questionaires carefully and more than once. maybe we can avoid unfortunate swapping experiences. Smiley

that's true. I know I've been in the store to pick up something and find myself thinking, "blue, that perfect! Wait, I know she had blue on the questionnaire, but what it a like or a don't-like?"

I end up returning lots of things unless I have the questionnaire WITH me when I'm at the store  Cheesy

That is why lists are such a wonderful thing - I am a list maniac.  Often for a swap I will make a list for the swap of ideas I have right away.  Then when I get partnering information, I will modify the list.  Then I often will make a shopping list/idea list (I always carry notebooks/pads with me - or a flashdrive copy of the list) and then always have an idea of what to get.

This is also why so many packages I send, where they ask for a favourite item, I send notebooks, pads, or post its - love lists.

I actually keep a swap notebook in my pocketbook with me all the time.  I have a particular way that I list the name of the swap and all the specifics, and make sure to list likes and dislikes.  I also keep a list of what I have crafted/bought.  When the notebook gets filled, I save it to have a record for myself of what swaps I was in, etc...  It's a big help, especially if for some reason the internet is too slow to load on my phone or whatever.
