All right, folks, this is a very sad tale. I bought some white denim and sewed it up into a messenger bag. Surprisingly, (VERY surprisingly, considering my sewing skill), the sewing went without a hitch and I had a great bag to start working on. I was making it My Chemical Romance-themed; I was going to have lyrics, stencils, buttons, etc. all over it, but instead of the emo-ish colors and themes that unfortunately usually accompany MCR, I wanted it to be bright and colorful. Well, here's how it turned out:

The stencil is of Gerard Way, the singer. Unfortunately, I got so many people asking me if it was Michael Jackson that I was traumatized into trying to fix his nose. A combination of whiteout, sharpies, and paint made him even more skeletal and Michael-looking.

That, plus, with my filthy school, two days of carrying it around got the following lovely stains:

I think it's an awesome bag! You did a great job. Why did Gerard have to cut his hair, anyway? *heartbreak*

I bet the people asking didn't know who my chemical romace was, much less what the singer looks like.

Well, I'm dorky enough to NOT know MCR, but your bag really is great.  Sometimes people just don't get us "creative" types!  As far as the dirty bottom (boy, I haven't said that since my youngest was around three!), you could cut a rectangle of dark fabric and use goriila glue to apply it to that areal.

I think it turned out great! I don't think it looks that much like Michael Jackson. The nose, maybe...But you can tell by the eyes that it's not him. I think you should still sport it proudly, rather than letting your hard work sit in the back of a closet.

It looks like Jack White from the White Stripes. Why don't you just tell people it's that?

That's funny that people say it looks like Michael Jackson because the first thing I thought when I saw that was, "That looks like Gerard, not Michael Jackson!!!".  Haha, but you did a really great job on it, and I like how you made the colors bright instead of the usual black & red that MCR uses.  I guess the people that thought it looked like MJ just don't know who MCR is, like the other people said.  Once again, great job!!

Wow...well those people must have been blind or severely vision-challenged, because even though I don't know all that much about MCR (only what I've heard from my friend who really likes them) I still knew that was Gerard....next time someone asks you if it's MJ, just give them a withering glare and say "Clearly you don't listen to enough good music," and then walk off....it worked for me when I had my badly drawn Squee shirt, except in that case it was they didn't read enough good comics.....

But I thought sewing classes were full of little old ladies who sat around and made table clothes ? - Ahh the voices of the uneducated
