I've been wanting to make a messenger bag forever, and couldn't find a pattern that was *just right*, so I ended up drafting my own.  I think it turned out fabulous!  I've posted it elsewhere, but I just have to share pics too...

Can you tell I love pockets?  The more pockets the better!  My first atempt at pleated pockets and adjustable straps...  it was a learning experience.  I can't wait to try another!

OMG! That is absolutely phenomenal!  It looks like you bought it from one of those expensive, pseudo-holistic stores in NYC.  I also love pockets too because I'm continually losing stuff.  Is it made out of canvas?  The inner fabric is really cool.  Did you find it at your local craft store?

Wow it is gorgeous!  I love the stripey fabric..  For working without a pattern, you certainly did a great job.

Wow! That is a great bag! I like the stripe of stripes on the flap.  It really does look like a bag you'd pay 40$+ for at a bag shop. How much stuff can you fit in there?

Thanks all!  I appreciate comments!

It is made out of canvas...  one of my favorite fabrics for bags and such.  The stripe is a decorator fabric I found at Hancock's.  I adore stripes, so I'm always picking up fabric like this when I see it, especially in neutral colors.

And it holds TONS of stuff!  This one is going to someone else, and I can't wait to make another for myself.  I stuck four big college textbooks in there and still had room for more stuff.
