Kitchen Color and Theme

I want to paint a wall in my kitchen. I have no color or theme in my kitchen. I want to create some fun.

I have a wall that runs through my kitchen and living room. I want to paint this wall. My couch is kind of a royal blue with silver circles. So it needs to be a complimentary color to royal blue. The other walls are a khaki color.

I was thinking citrus as a theme, but not sure with the khaki walls. Also thinking could go nautical, but it seems like everyone does it.  I'm thinking something relatively colorful. But I have to take my husband into consideration. 

I'm open to all suggestions and ideas.
