well, last year i documented a dress on here and you guys all seemed to enjoy reading up on it so here i go again. i'm gonna start fromt he very begining this time

i have made some prelim sketches, i'm going for middle elizabethan, a little less tudoresque than last years, with a high wired ruff with peacock feathers
instead of satin i'm either going to find a nice baroque silk or a pretty velvet.. i'm debating between 3 colors, blue, green, or violet

here's the sketches, lemme now what you think

Um. When you're done wearing it to the festival...can you send it to me?

Seriously, I love that sketch.  So lovely. I think green would be amazing on it but then I'm partial to green.

I wish I could DRAW that, let alone plan to sew it. That's gorgeous and you are really talented!

I say use green as your main color with the blue and violet as accent colors.  Would look fabulous with the peacock feathers!

i found fabric for the forepart, it's black silk with a woven swirl overlayed with gold braid in criss cross like the sketch, the catch is.. it's 30 bucks a yard. i know i only need 2 yarfs of it.. and technically i could make something similar but with the yardage on the braids it may just be as expensive to make..

for the slashed sleeves i think i will go with black velvet that way if i decide to pearl it to match the white undershirt it will contrast really bold.

for the corset i'm going to try drea's effigy corset, but with steel boning and princess cut closure to keep the lacing out of the way. i'm debating whether or not to tab it.. i dunno.. bugger.
