Crafting to keep insanity at bay.

I took a book arts class last month and finally learned how to do the coptic stitch. Since then I kept thinking I definitely wanted to make more, and decided that the greatest way to cull my crazy stash of paper was to take my favorite items, long since hoarded and never used, and put them all into one book! I also included old notes from middle and high school, random stories and papers I've written, a bunch of printmaking scraps I did in class, etc. This is far from done but I finished the book itself and started gluing smaller scraps. There are also pockets and little envelopes made from scraps of paper so I can tuck in little notes and trinkets that are meaningful to me. Most of the pages are not the same size, I love the scrappy quality that it brings, though that being said it did make the binding a bit more of a challenge. Obviously I'll need to figure out some way to keep it shut as it's already bulging with the contents  Shocked but I'm happy with how it came out. The cover is also not finished....I haven't quite decided what I want to do with that but my idea right now is to glue tiny scraps of paper all over it....or maybe cover it with paint...not sure. I'd love to hear any ideas.

Here's some of my favorite pages, I'd love to hear what you think!

It's gorgeous, sheep! So inspiring to look at all those different papers, colours and textures. It's the kind of thing I wish I could see it in person!

Amazing and almost as much fun as a room full of kittens!  I'm on the verge of starting an altered book round robin and you've inspired some changes in my book!  Thank you so much for posting.

Your book is a marvelous collection of stuff!

You could close it with some ties or even an elastic, like some notebooks I have seen!  It is stuffed with inspiration and places for you to add some more writings and drawings!

This is so beautiful!! I'm excited to see it when you've 'finished' it (I think it's gorgeous as is!). I couldn't use any of that paper either. It's all too pretty Cheesy

I love your book! This is my favorite type of book to make. How about you make your own stencils out of acetate and paint over the cover? It'll look neat.
