Alice in Wonderland Shadowbox Locket

This piece is a birthday present for my best friend, and fellow craftster,
Graverobbergirl. I got the inspiration for this piece while looking online
and saw a beautiful Alice in Wonderland locket but at over $700 I decided
that I would have to make one instead.
The hardest part of this project was just finding all the pieces, the
shadowbox locket being the most difficult because most of the ones I found
just weren’t big enough or too much money. But after about a week’s worth
of surfing the internet and etsy shops I finally found a reasonably priced
and amazing shadowbox pendant to make it in.
Because the back is also visible I took a circular piece of cardstock and
using a very thin layer of glue applied a piece of fabric to each side to
then add all of the pieces on top off. I considered letting everything
roll around free but then when you wear it not everything would be visible
so I decided to glue it all down with hot glue.

Interior of the locket:
-One miniature Alice in Wonderland book that I made, the pages actually
opens up and has a few passages from the book. The theory is you won’t
ever open the locket but if she did she could open the book up. It’s a
little added bonus.
-On top of the book I attached the miniature pocket watch I found.
-One tiny silver key to unlock the doors to Wonderland
-One miniature glass vial (to create the liquid inside I filled it with
some glue which hardens to give it the affect of their being liquid inside
without having to worry about any real liquid leaking out). It may make
your grow or shrink but you will have to test it to find out.
-Miniature playing cards that I printed out and laminated.

For the chain of the locket I added the world’s cutest little flamingo
charms that I found and a little Initial A to stand for Alice that is hung
on the front of the locket.

Happy Birthday Graverobbergirl!
