Please let me know if this is not allowed. I need gift help

My boyfriend will be flying out "around the end of the month" to go to the wedding reception of mutual friends. I saw mutual friends but I don't know them very well. Early this year they flew my boyfriend and I out for an all expenses paid trip to Seattle. The wined and dined us and showed us around providing an amazing four days in Seattle.

This couple has been together for ten years. At first they decided that for political reasons they would not have a marriage and opted for domestic partnership. Now for their tenth anniversary they will be having a wedding reception but no wedding ritual.

What do I get a couple that already lives together? I'm setting my boyfriend to the task of getting as much details from the male friend as possible. I find is hard to believe that the female of the couple will not be wearing anything special to her wedding reception. I've asked him to see if she has jewelry to wear. Other than jewelry or a mixed media portrait of the couple what do you think I can craft for them? Also, she has an allergy to gluten. I do not know if she has skin allergies as well.

I love the idea of a piece of art special to both of them, maybe wall art or an altered book?  Have you seen the watercolour stencil portraits made from a picture (which only works of course if you have a good photo to use)?  Or maybe a special dinner for them, with a nice bottle of wine, gift certificate to a restaurant, some crafty little extras....

I forgot about that tutorial! It looks like the perfect place to start.

What I do know about them is that the female works while the guy keeps house. He cooks gourmet meals most meals. Her gluten intolerance makes it difficult to gift food or to eat out.

Most of my stuff has to come out of stash because I can't legally work until my certification goes through with the state. I really wish I could put a massage in a box ;p Some wall art and a blank journal is what I am learning towards. The journal can either just be a nice gift or become a guest book for their reception if they don't have one.

Thanks AM! I will post updates and final product when I am done Smiley
