I hope this fits the criteria.  I started with a 12 x 12 piece of scrap pine, added brown felt to cover it.  I hammered in the nails in a circular pattern.  I used 3 colors of #10 crochet thread to string the circular motif.  I then used a gold metallic #3 crochet thread for the outer circle motif.  I finished, but hated the brown felt, so I took a black paint pen and colored the felt. This was not enough coverage, so I took black acrylic paint and went over the background with it.  I added dry brush strokes with a sky blue acrylic.  Last, I took a black sharpie and painted the inside of the motif.  To cover the outside of the frame, I glued blue hem tape to the outside and finished that off with some brass upholstery tacks.

Ooh, interesting. I haven't seen string art in a long time. It's nice.

I think you were right to change the background, around the outside you've got quite a spacey effect.

Really nice! I love how the blue strokes are! verall, i can't seem to know how you made it, this makes it even more interesting! Nice colour choices!

When I was a kid, I remember my babysitter had a ship done out of string on her wall just like this, and from that point forward I always wanted to try it.  It always looks so interesting.  I like what the paint did to the background also.
