I fell in LOVE with the Anthropologie necklaces with stones and rope, but yeaaaaaa......I'm not paying that much for a necklace! Of course I can make a knock-off version myself!

All it took was some rocks from the local rock shop, rope, decorative edging (can someone tell me the official name of that stuff?!) and hot glue.

It was actually super easy to make. I did learn that next time, to buy circle stones, the oblong stone I used was a little harder to wrap the rope around. (if you can see where the two stones connect, there is a small gap - but I'm ok with that!)

Please visit my blog for more info on the project!

I have to say that I saw these at Anthropologie too, and also loved them knowing I would never spend that much on a necklace. I recognised the thumbnails right away and you did a bang up job of re-creating the necklace!
Don't bang yourself up about the super small gap - if you look at the necklaces from Anthro they all have the same gap.  Cheesy

That's really cute. Great job knocking it off, it looks at least as expensive.

I believe that the kind of trim that you used is called "gimp" or "braid". I've usually seen it referred to as "gimp" though. That pretty much accounts for any flat (and often narrow) trim comprised of a number of fine cords.

Stop being so damned positive. Staring at the sun only blinds some one. By only looking at the positive, you miss an entire beautiful world of shadows and colors. Don't be overly negative, be realistic. The world is so much more complex and beautiful that way.

I love the necklace you made. I have a huge piece of amethyst that I always wondered what to do with. I'm going to have to make one of these with it.
