So about 3 years ago I started this corset. I got almost all the way done and life got crazy. I just didn't have the time or inclination to do all the hand stitching to finish the edge (done similarly to a quilt binding, if you've ever done that...takes forever!) So I finally finished a while ago and it looks great!
Problem is I have no idea what to do with it. I can't get past "pirate" which I can't bring myself to do because it's not a terribly unique idea. For the first time in my life, I repeated a costume a couple of years ago and last year's didn't come together how I wanted. This year...

So, any suggestions?

Thanks!

ETA: I've already done steampunk...that was my repeat costume. Just can't do it again. That is my only other idea.

Modern elf/fae/woodland creature of some sort. IE, you were thrown from some cool magical forest into the modern world. Smiley

You could do a Red Riding hood costume. You know. A grown up, stylized version.

Honestly when I saw it I thought - kick ass female Robin Hood.  Styled sort of like Natalie Portman from your Highness.

Depending on how you feel about violence, you could do a female soldier ala Xena or futuristic Star Wars-y

This corset is gorgeous! It definitely makes me think of a warrior-type character. I totally agree with the female Robin Hood idea, or some other kind of medieval female character. It also reminds me of Susan's leather armor in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Then there's your typical renaissance wench or a tavern wench.

I also love the urban fae idea. Check out my idea in this post I made:

Very Amy Brown-inspired, with the striped tights and flowy layers and modern accessories you probably already have or could easily buy or borrow. Add some wings popping out of the top of the corset and you're done!
