Look, now I'm blushing! 

I do understand the fear of cutting into a shirt you love (or want to love if only you could wear it!)  If you have the patience, try it out first with a shirt that isn't so dear until you get a feel for the process.  And if you do mess up, take a deep breath, set it aside, and think for a while about how you might fix it.  Or bring it here for advice!  If it's truly unfixable, salvage the scraps to make bands for another shirt and try again...my first recons were by no means perfect, and I certainly made my share of mistakes while I was learning.

I've got this bookmarked (a little vain, maybe, but practical  ) so if anybody posts questions, I will see them, and will do my best to answer/help promptly.

This is a great tutorial! I just culled a lot of shirts that were a little tighter than I wanted around the bust, but I don't want to wear a bunch of baggy ones! I'll just have to fit them myself! Also...

While you sew, stretch the fabric lightly before it goes under the needle; don't use enough resistance to make your machine unhappy, just enough to make the two layers of fabric lie smoothly together as they pass the needle.

I really wish I had known that when I was sewing slightly stretchy flannel and it kept wrinkling on me. I was worried it was all my ironing and pinning, which I spent so much time on and worked so hard on!

Thanks so much for this tutorial. There are indeed numerous ones on the Internet (and many on craftster) but yours was the most simple and complete I found. I already made a short using it (no pictures, sorry) and I looooove it.

Best t-shirt fitting/altering tutorial I've seen.  Thank you SO MUCH for putting this together.  So much great info in here...not just resizing, but altering sleeves and necklines.  I'll definitely be referring back to this tutorial in the future.  You rock!!
