I was! lol! I did give it a try though and it's actually very comfortable! But for now it's going to live in the corner of the dining room, without any butts visiting it for awhile! haha

This looks lovely, do you have any training in re-upholstery?
I am currently doing an apprenticeship in upholstery and know how many specialist tools you need to do the job properly!! It's a nightmare huh!!
Did you retack it or staple?
And how old was the chair? Sorry for all the Q's, am just curious!!!!!

mrs17- I have no training at all! I would love to take classes, but as of right now there's no plans for that. I didn't use ANY special tools! I googled for basic techniques and decided that a pair of wire clippers and a flat head screw driver were good enough to remove all of the tacks (worked like a charm too!), and then I DID at first buy new tacks to replace them but the store didn't have enough so I ended up scrapping that idea. For the ones I did replace, I didn't use a rubber mallet. I took my regular hammer and taped a few layers of scrap fabric to the head of it and hammered them in place. To my surprise, that also worked! It didn't damage the tacks at all.

As for the age- it's not actually that old! I don't know the age for sure, it's been thrifted and yard saled often I think. My mom's had it for at least 7 or 8 years. The overall value of it is no more than $80 I believe.

busy_lizzy- I opted not to do the new tacks, I couldn't get enough from the local store and ultimately I would have ended up spending over $100 on tacks alone- which was not part of my plan I attached the fabric with my trusty staple gun
