Canvas of Creativity

this is my finished project from a class i took with one of the king's of the mixed media world - Tim Holtz - http://www.timholtz.typepad.com/ - called "Creative Blocks" -- we all started with the same materials, but were able to take it our own ways -- for example, i made my canvas vertical versus horizontal.  i also flipped one of my mini canvases to make a "shadow box"...color choices, paper choices, etc, were all mine   it was cool to see what others did with the same things and how different they all ended up

some of the steps we took: layout, papering the squares & canvases, shadowing the squares by smudging pencil lines, attaching the mini canvases, inking away (if you know tim, you know ink!), coating the entire project in beeswax, adding fun embellishments...wh ew!  it was a 4 hour class & i finished mine the following weekend -- and mine is not near as embellished as it could have been!!!

Very cool - one of those things you can't stop looking at because there are so many elements!  And by the way - I am completely green with envy that you got to take a class with Tim Holtz!!!

Totally jealous of your Tim Holtz class, I would be like a kid in a candy store! I would love to see the pieces done by the others in the class, it's fascinating to see where people end up when they start with the same materials. I really like the layering of the mini canvas on the larger one and I especially have a fondness for frozen charlottes. Great job!
