I am in serious work avoidance mode today!

For those who are still considering joining this, or using up that last little bit of Red Heart, here's the states that still need scarves, their deadline, and home many they've gotten/how many they need.

I am hoping that like most crafting talents, there is a lot of last minute shipping...

Look at poor NC and MA...you would think that with so many craftsters from WA that there would be more scarves being done!  Are there no yarnies in Mississippi? gahhhh...I do hope states share!

Here in Maine they have only received 400 (as of Nov 30th) for their big order of 1406.

I didn't even realize that MA was asking for scarves! Guess I'll send my scarf to my home state, although poor little RI needs more... I was surprised to see that the scarves are not only for the athletes. So, I agree- if they don't have enough, the athletes better get first dibs!

And, this weekend, I do solemnly swear to take a picture of my scarf and mail it... to RI... because that's what state I originally made it for...

If I have time, I'll make another one for MA... maybe I'll use multiple strands and crochet up a quick chunky scarf...

Just got word that Maine has indeed reached their goal of 1406! I am happy for them. I will have to pick a new state now, which isn't a bad thing. Besides, it will give me more time since Maine's due date was Jan 23rd.

I  knew it!  They are just behind in counting and all of them are going to just flow right in...YAY for Maine!!!

I guess we should check as the deadline gets closer to find out where to send a scarf!

Thanks Always for the link in your signature, this project is the best way to throw myself back into Craftster after being gone so long, and I'm excited my state's deadline is March 1st, so I have time to make scarves! Go North Dakota! I'll be heading by Joann's and Hobby Lobby tomorrow to get my yarn.

Finally, here is the picture of my scarf! I just got back from the post office, so I can officially check it off of my to-do list. I made it using Maria Merlino's houndstooth check afghan pattern, but I just did a skinnier version. Somewhere along the way, I messed up my count (I was working on it late and night and then picked it up again early the next morning, so I'm not sure when it happened), and I didn't notice until I was weaving in the yarn to make the houndstooth pattern. I made the mistake near the middle of the scarf, so I wasn't frogging all the way back. It's noticeable if you're looking for it, but the pattern is busy enough that it isn't very obvious. The only thing I wish I had done differently is the border. I used 2 strands and did a sc around, and it came out ripply. But, otherwise, I love it!



If I have can find the Massachusetts info, I'll make another one for my home state. Otherwise, RI might get a second scarf.

That scarf looks really cool! I've always wanted to try a pattern like that.

Picked up my yarn today, going to see if I can bust out a scarf this weekend.
