wow--that is great!  I need to see how many PA has...they need over 1,000!

oh no--they have only received 320 out of 1,746 needed!!!!  I am sure it is because most of us are procrastinators and wait to the last minute! Cheesy

*raises hand* I'm one of the procrastinators!  Cheesy Like I was in school... if it's not due for a while, it's not a high priority. However, it will eventually get done!

alwaysinmyroom, that's awesome that you got a letter to thank you! I sent a scarf to a charity, and didn't hear anything, so it's nice to know that your scarves were received and appreciated.

And, I didn't realize that you could find out how many scarf a state needs. I'll have to check the RI site. If they have enough, I can send my scarf somewhere else (like PA Wink ).

I seem to have misplaced my completed scarf. I thought it was right here, but I must have moved it when I was going to take a picture, and now I don't know where it is! I'll find it this weekend...

I think I read that states that get too many scarves send them to states that did not get enough...it is a national event...

Hope you find your scarf!  That is why I mailed early--ha ha -- I tend to lose things in the clutter of my life!

RI actually needs over 1,00 scarves! So, mine should get used locally. And, I found it yesterday after the Thanksgiving stress was over. I had actually packed it neatly in my current project box. I still have to take the picture, but at least the scarf and the camera are right next to each other! I was supposed to tackle another project today, but decided that I just needed a day for me (I went to a craft fair and then a sushi restaurant with a couple of pals) and so anything that smacked of responsibility or commitment got pushed off until tomorrow. So, that means that a swap item (overdue, unfortunately) is postponed until tomorrow, as well. Which means a Monday afternoon post office run. Scarf included!

Because this is for charity we would like to get as many people involved in this project as possible to spread the love. To do this I decided that it would be a good time to hold a...

Contest Giveaway!

How to Enter: Recruit other knitters/crocheters and have them PM me informing that you recruited them. For every scarf they make and post a pic of in this thread, you get 1 point. If you recruited a non-craftster you can just post pics of the scarves they made as proof. Whoever gets the most points wins. If there is a tie I will use random.org to select a winner.

Deadline: 14 February 2012

Prize: $25 Amazon Gift Card

You can do anything (legal and not against policies) to recruit. You can use social media, your signatures, PMs, even request a scarf in a swap! (I actually did this and heath_face is contributing a scarf to the NC games!) You can do anything you think will gain an interest.

Remember, even if you recruit 1 person and they make 1 scarf, you have helped create 1 more smile on an athletes face.

What a great idea! I don't have any family members who have time to participate, but I'll see if I can recruit some Craftster peeps Smiley

Hope all are recovering well from the holidays.

Just a reminder that even if you missed your deadline, or if you won't have time for your deadline, you can always choose to send to another state with a later deadline! Be sure to visit your state's page to see how many scarves they already have. You may find you might need to send to another state if your state has already has enough scarves.

Now that Christmas crafting is finished, I can work on my scarves again! I finished the one that I started back in the fall, and then started another one. This one will just be random stripes done in double crochet, so it should work up quickly. I'll post pics later today, now I need to get off the computer and actually accomplish the boring household stuff I told myself I would do today.  Tongue

Edit - Apartment is now clean, so I can come back to crocheting and Craftster-ing!
Here's a pic of the scarf that I finished:

Here's the next one in progress. I started doing random stripes on my own, but then I got lazy and now random.org is telling me how many rows (between 2 and 10) of each color to do. Cheesy I've done a little more on it since taking the picture, and it's now 27" long.
