I am taking my time as well. I just tried a swatch of double knitting with success and I am still deciding if I am going to use it in the scarf. I too have WIPs and a swap obligation. Also I am entering the state fair this year so I've got to finish my project(s) for that. And of course all of the other projects that need to get done along with spoiling my new niece. So I think it will get done in random spurts.

Ran into Michael's tonight hoping they would have the yarn, and they did! I have plenty of projects to be working on during my trip free time (plane rides, layovers, car rides to and from Tennessee, night time), but now I can add this scarf to my list!

What patterns have people decided on?

Can i knit you something in seed stitch? I'd love to swap you for: handspun yarn, hand carved banana stamp...

My girlfriend and I are going across town at lunch to another AC Moore and Hancock fabrics to see if I can find the navy!

I have so many striped scarf patterns for both crochet and knitting, but I think I am going to stick to the one I found on the Red Heart site Alisha provided! I hope I find the yarn today...if not, I will be looking in Michigan when I go on vacation there in two weeks!

SUCCESS!!  AC Moore had the yarn (but very little of it!)...I bought enough for 4 scarves and recruited my crochet buddy into buying some as well...we also got a discount because there was an online coupon AND no sales tax since we could prove we are making clothing! Phew!  I am going to get started this weekend...I am pretty sick of quilting right now... Cheesy

Awesome! I also love that you can avoid the tax by saying it's for clothing. I don't think we have that here... we don't have a tax on food or clothing, but I don't think it extends to supplies that will become clothing... which is a bummer...

I was going to try to write the cost off on my taxes, it is for a charitable donation!
I got my yarn. I went with the cherry red and soft navy. I haven't been able to find the regular navy around here anyway. Now I just need to decide what pattern...

...ok...I finished one scarf... Cheesy

I will take a pic of it this weekend and post it...I am thinking that one skein of each of the red and navy will make three scarves (they seem rather short, but I understand that there is a reason for that...)...I crocheted one in a simple alternating stripe...I think I will knit the next one...

Can't wait to see it! I think I may work on mine this weekend. I only bought one skein of each, so I'll see how far it takes me...

Here is the first scarf I made.

It is about 52 inches in length...I modified the "BE PROUD" pattern on the Red Heart site-- It is a simple crochet pattern--1 sc, 1hd, 1dc--two rows of each color so I could carry the yarn instead of weaving in Cheesy.

Wow, you're quick!  And it looks great! I've got to remember where I dropped my yarn and get started. I think mine will go quickly, once I get going Wink
