This is my first doll, so he took me four months to finish.  I used a Pam Gross pattern for the body and downloaded pictures of period clothes to draft my patterns.  All the stitching was done by hand.  Then there was a lot of trial and error in figuring out the best ways to do the rest.   Smiley

Thanks for looking!

I keep looking at him and seeing a different bit that I like best each time!  I love the little rum bottle, and the compass, and the beard, and the tattoo, and the fact that he's standing in that sort of tilty position that he does!  *squee*  Really, I just think that this is altogether awesome.

Arr matey!

He is amazing! It's so detailed! Tattoo and everything... You must have studied his pictures a lot. How tall is he? This definitely rocks!

He's 2 feet tall with his hat on.  You have no idea how much I studied those pictures!   I worked on him during spare time at work, and people in the office were starting to say that I was obsessed.  Which I was, but they didn't have to say so.   Roll Eyes   ha!

I forgot to say in my original post, his pockets are all real, functional welt flap pockets, his pants are drop front trousers with functional pockets, and his compass opens and has a dial that turns.  It seems like it took me almost as long to figure out how to make things as it did to actually make them.   Smiley
