Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum but I wanted to start out by sharing with you a dream...A dream that I've had since I was a little girl to have a canopy bed with rich pretty curtains I could pull back or untie to enclose my bed to make it a snuggly warm place of isolation and luxury.

I am pleased to say that I have succeeded!

After hours of work, measuring, almost falling off my bed a few dozen times and hurting my poor poor thumb with evil thumbtacks *sucksthumb* T^T

I have what I've always wanted! This was my second attempt at a canopy and I must say I like this one much MUCH better than my first try. Now I'm the spiffiest chick in my dorm!

Wow, I have always wanted one like that too. Not the froo-froo girly pink ones, but the seriously useful ones, that can keep you warm and snuggy. Love it, wonderful job.

Absolutely awesome! Nice to see I'm not the only one wrapped up in getting a canopy! Was there a frame up top or just pinning?

Thanks, I like the more sophisticated looking canopies but all I could find were the fairy glitter and sparkle sort of ones so I made it myself ^^ it was really easy, I might post a tut when I do my roomies.

Yup! there's a frame up top! Well a partial one anyway. I didn't trust the thumbtacks to hold the weight and withstand the use of the curtains being shifted and adjusted, so I made a support for them with two cardboard gift wrapping tubes, reinforced by some 3/8ths dowels. I screwed in 4 cup hooks and tied it up there with some nice strong fishing wire too.
