I think I see how it was done, but I am still wanting instructions I can try it myself some day. Maybe that book should go on my wishlist? Thanks for the inspiration!

I just love this blanket!!! The stitch looks identical to the Wool Eater blankets. Does anyone know if they are the same or not?

Yes..they are the same concept...and projects for both can be found on Ravelry.  The 'Wool Eater' blanket is a free download and I've attempted that one in the past...just didn't like the yarn I was using. 

The baby blanket looks effortless the way you worked the stitches and the color shading makes it a real stunner!!  I may have to pick this pattern up again soon and Eat-up som Wool!!! =]

omg!!! this is gorgeous. i love it. my mom is the crocheter and i showed it to her and she loved it too. i found the book on ebay and am planning on buying it for her. thank you for sharing it with us.
