I finally made some paper beads that I thought were worthy of making into jewelry (I have a whole lot of trial-and-error paper beads...). These are tube beads made out of a great black-and-white paper. The pendant is three layers of matting board (the bottom and top one are black matte board, the middle is white). My thought was that the change in color would make it stand out more - if I had to do it again, I would use only white board - the black dulls the white parts in the paper a little. The necklace is nice and long. Each bead is covered in mod-podge hard coat. I hope that it is decently water resistant...

I am pretty pleased with how it turned out!

Snazzy!

I would never have guessed they were made from paper.

The pendant is particularly nice. I like the off-center popped out piece.

Well done!

Thanks all!

madame marigold - I have definitely started to keep any bags or ads that have great patterns/colors. It is a great way to recycle isn't it?

crazydoc - I am glad that you like the off-centered look. I debated on off-center / centered for awhile before actually gluing it together...

Hippie9 - yes, it is called "hard coat" - I really like it! It has a bit of a satin look to it. This is the first project I have used it on, but I really like both how it dried and how it looks!

Thanks Alwaysinmyroom! That made my day!

I can't believe how many varieties of mod-podge there are! (or how many varieties of glue I seem to think that I really need!) But, I really do like the look of the hard coat. Did you know that they make an outdoor mod-podge??
