Victoria rose cross stitch. The pattern is adapted from a carriage robe from the Victoria era.

I got the pattern from a 60s needlework book I inherited from my grandma:

And now for the copy cat cross stitch. This is in no way my idea! The original version was posted a few years ago here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=240003.0 by ambraqi. I didn't watch TV growing up, so I had no idea the original was David the Gnome, I just thought it was a cute gnome. Then a friend asked me why I was cross stitching David the Gnome in the wrong colors...

so now a purple and green version of David the Gnome sits in my office.

Nice work on both!  Seems to me I bought that book at a garage sale some time ago...hmmmm, maybe I'll go have a look.  Thanks for the nudge.  Smiley

Nice work!  The rose is pretty and the gnome is cute.
