After getting tired of shopping for swimsuits and not finding the "perfect" one (in my price range) I decided to make my own.  I did a retro high waist bikini at the end of last summer, but now I wanted a one shoulder swimsuit.  I searched some one shoulder swimsuits online and found an itsy bitsy bikini on ebay that had straps like this.  Eureka!...only I wanted more coverage, ahem...so I made mine a looooooong tankini.  Theirs had a ring, but I had a butterfly belt hanging around that I never wear (I had forgotten I owned it), so I clipped off a butterfly with my super bolt cutters that I stole from my DH!  I managed to come up with this without a pattern so I'm pleased as punch!

I needed to "test it out" in the water...so a romp around in the sprinkler was a must.  It did very well, so I feel safe to wear it in public next time I go swimming.  Grin

I did elastic shirring in the back which I got a bit snug, but I'd rather that then it fall off!!!

Oh, and I wear bikini bottoms under it. Duh!  Grin

Thank everybody.  Amberlybites-I'm flattered it reminded you of Bettie Page at all.  Violentjayne-I'm glad you like it, the shirring down the middle was inspired by your work.  Grin

so cute! practically a dress. any thoughts about making a dress like that but a little longer? no need to get the cops after you for indecent exposure.  Cheesy
