People know I sew and do a lot of reconstructing, so they're constantly giving me stuff they find/buy/etc.  Sometimes this is good because I get awesome stuff. Sometimes this is bad because I'm a packrat and can't say no to free stuff.

My MIL in particular likes buying me vintage tablecloths. This one in particular was circular (Hello, perfect circle skirt!) and had really cool crocheted trim. So I paired it with a houndstooth knit and some metallic spandex (I was going for a leather effect) and made this swing dress. I usually make shorter dresses, but this one I made fairly long. I love it!

When I saw the dress I thought is that leather?  I'd say you succeeded in getting your leather effect.  Love the dress...especially the hem detail.

This dress is SUPER cute! I love the sleeves, and the color of the top (especially paired with the skirt!) I would say this project is a major success.

So THAT's what I need to do when I find a beautiful old tablecloth - make it into a skirt!  Of Course!  Why didn't Ithink of that?  Tongue

The bodice is pretty cool too.

Gorgeous - especially the color of the skirt in the sunlight.  It's such a beautiful shade of golden yellow.
