On the right is a hat done in white thread with a black lace band, vintage button, and pheasant feathers.

On the left is a hat done in metallic gold thread with a garnet & freshwater pearl band, gold-plated chain with real watch bits as charms and accents. This one took me WAAAAAY too much time.

Yeah, I stitch two teardrop hair clips to the inside; with a couple of bobby pins, the hat's pretty secure.

Brother supergalaxie 2000, third hand...tension issues...knotting underneath, embossed part of the design not showing up due to the knotting; thankfully got some tips from sewforum.com on how to sort it and managed the FSL design lol!!! basically had to modify the hoop, check the machine was properly threaded (thought it was, it wasnt hahaha!!!), use the right stabiliser and finally bought some new needles!

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=383118.0

I've also downloaded the larger design now since the smaller has worked!

Okay, I posted this over in the Machine Embroidery board, but it's also appropriate here... and this place is a lot more active.  Tongue

On the left is a hat done in metallic gold thread with a garnet & freshwater pearl band, gold-plated chain with real watch bits as charms and accents. I'd estimate this one took somewhere between 8 - 10 hours.

These were made with the Lace Top Hat design from Urban Threads: http://www.urbanthreads.com/product_details?product_id=3365

Wow, those are really great! Do you make them for balljoint dolls, or something else? I bet you'd rake it in with the BJD market!

They could be used for BJD clothing, but usually I stitch hair clips to the inside. With those and a couple of bobby pins, they make wonderful fascinators.

So cool.  I always drool over these (and the tricorn and witch hats).

I really wish this design would fit my 4x4 hoop   Cry

Yes, I have a few more sitting around now, including a blue Alice in Wonderland themed one with clock faces & miniature playing cards. (It's my favorite!)  I also have a couple stitched together but undecorated tricorns that I've been meaning to play with.

Well, I could always stitch out the pieces for you so you can do the fun part of putting it all together & decorating. Smiley
