I hate to admit it but I really have just trolled Craftster for many years. So I figured I'd post something I just completed! I've been embroidering now for a year or so. This has taken me off and on about a week. I painted the hoop with fluorescent red paint. The stitches are all done in either regular DMC floss, and a few bits are either linen, satin, or metallic. It's in a 7" hoop. I think it's kind of clumsily big of a hoop, but it's what I had at the time without any work on it.

edit added 6/12:

So I was working on another one and figured I'd post it in the same thread, as not to clog up the board. This one is only in 4" hoop. In this one I also used Kreinik metallic threads... I think it makes it look mermaid-y!

Also thanks for all the comments guys, you are too sweet!

That's really pretty. I like the colors a lot. I've been thinking about doing something like this to practice different stitches, so thank you for the encouragement.

Woah. I agree with the above commenter, this would be a really good way to practice a whole lot of stitches and still have a lovely hoop at the end.

Very cool.  also, there's a swap called "ongoing hoopla swap"...we're in round 2, but you could join in.  You claim a person, stitch for them, add your name to the list, someone picks you and stitches for you, they add their name, etc...........

it's pretty easy to follow and you can claim 1 time or a dozen times....just have to have your hoop out in a 3week time frame.  it's been so much fun.

I saw this on the homepage and went, "Oooo". Something has to really jump out at me to get a verbal response. Thanks for taking the plunge and posting a project. You should post more often. We don't bite.Smiley

I am the same way, just trolling around, loving everyone else's posts but barely ever posting myself lol.

I LOVE this hoop! It almost looks like grasses or flames. It suggests movement. Love the colors <3

Stunning! It looks like wild plants and vines...and yes, the second one looks like plants/vines under the sea! If I ever get around to making MYSELF a hoop, I think it will be something like this! Thanks for the beautiful inspiration!

I love the monochromatic theme too. Each hoop uses several variations of the same color, and all the stitches are going in the same way. There is tons of repetition, but it's not repetitive at all. I would agree and say it has lots of movement.

Both are very interesting to look at.

It makes me tempted to make one, but I'd probably cheat and try to do it on my sewing machine, and then wonder why it looks so... machined.

It's funny how technology influences my thinking. I haven't thought about all the different kinds of stitches I can make, because my machine does 92, so what more do I need? However, the hand made stitch is so beautiful in these, and the rhythm of it is amazing. It certainly could not be duplicated with a machine.
