So I just discovered the Buttercup Bag pattern (http://www.made-by-rae.com/2009/02/free-buttercup-bag-sewing-pattern.html) that has been so popular on craftster, and this is my interpretation for my friend's birthday!

Here's a close up of the pleating and the button embellishment:

Seems like all of the versions of this bag I've seen use the same fabric for the entire exterior, so I wanted to try something a little different. And I also used a different third fabric for the lining:

I also added medium weight interfacing to the exterior of the bag and the strap- I definitely recommend this if you are using lightweight cotton instead of the heavier weight fabric that Rae used. Next time I think I'll try enlarging the pattern, as this bag is a bit small. Overall though it was an easy to read pattern and very fun/simple to make! I will definitely use it again.

This was my first bag- I'm pretty pleased with how it came out! Smiley

Thanks for looking!

I love that you made it your own!  The combo of fabrics really does it for me...and this is one of my favorite patterns because it is so newbie friendly!

I hope it has inspired you to make more because I certainly think this one turned out pretty wonderful!
