Oh, I meant to ask, what did you do with the metal loop that sticks out on the backside of the buttons?

I yanked them off with pliers Smiley. They actually came off pretty easily.

Ah, good to know.  I was thinking wire cutters.  They would make cute earrings also.   Cheesy

Love this - may have a go at one myself.   So much nicer than the paper variety.

Green is my colour also, so good choice.

If I didn't think that I would immediately loose all those little buttons I would try to make one for myself.  It looks lovely!

Beautiful calendar, I love it Smiley
I thought about making some with crowns or maybe little gift boxes or something on them for just that purpose. I love the idea.
Since you're using velcro, maybe you could make the extra symbols as a middle layer between the board and the buttons. Sort of like a frame, with velcro on both sides, and the relevant symbols all around (hearts for valentines, for example). Something like this:
******
*       *
*  O   *
*       *
******
Does that make any sense or is 3am not a good time to post suggestions?  Tongue

Oh! I think I get it. I don't even need to use the buttons - I could just make a little fabric square with velcro on the back. I like that!

Yup, little squares.
And if you put velcro on the front of the squares you could attach a regular number button on top of them.
