Perpetual Calendar

I made this perpetual calendar for my marvelous IYP swap partner, onegroovyday. I was inspired by a pattern in the book, I Love Patchwork.

This was an enjoyable project to plan out and put together. All of the fabric covered buttons got to be a pain but it was still fun picking all the various scrap fabrics. The buttons are attached with velcro circles and I used twill tape for the month labels. There is a big grommet in the top for hanging.





I ran out of fabric covered buttons so I had to make one "filler" out of a real button. OH NO! I just realized that OGD is going to need 2 more fillers for the month of Feb! Duh!

I just adore the whole thing! I think the real button as a 'filler' just makes it more adorable.

this is so cool!  it looks super.  i guess you did not forget to make a number 31   .  it might be neat to do a few extra buttons with symbols for the major holidays or a person birthday.  Great job!

I thought about making some with crowns or maybe little gift boxes or something on them for just that purpose. I love the idea.

It looks like I need to send OGD some additional filler buttons for Feb so I might just have to try that fun symbols idea while I'm at it!

I'm inspired to try other forms of perpetual calendars. Maybe one made from matchboxes??
