How *hard* could it be?

I got a tattoo from a friend of a friend in April, and instead of cash, I paid him in cake.  I made this for his girlfriend's birthday on May 20th Smiley

Vanilla buttermilk cake soaked with buttery rum, and layered with caramel buttercream and dulce de leche caramel.  The top of the machine is made of rum rice cereal treats.  It is hand painted with 24carat edible gold, and edible silver.  I made the wheel on the back out of gum paste, painted it black and brushed it with a little bit of silver.

And here are some close-ups of the gold:

Thanks for looking  Cool

The details are amazing, unbelievable!

The entire concept is so inspirational. I wish we could see the eyes of his girlfriend when she got the cake!

and BTW, my beloved grandma had singer like that from the 1880! with a foot pedal and all. Mom still has it. Electricity's been added and it's my brother who actually sews on it sometimes.

The Singer case is the one I like to quote when discussing the issue of planned obsolence.

THanks for letting us see this, h0p31355 !!

I could never eat this! I'd put it in a hermetically sealed glass box, and arrange it in a place of honor. I mean, this is amazing. It's just like the one my great grandmother had.

The cake sounds like it would be really delicious too.  Smiley
