For my friend's birthday, I decided to make a bag, following her latest obsessions/likes: purple and squids.
The pictures aren't great unfortunately, my camera wasn't being cooperative and I didn't have much time.

The squid pattern is made out of p-leather (glued on and outlined with an acrylic writer) with button suckers on the tentacles.

Back with a diagonal zipper pocket.

Open

Inside with two compartments and two different pockets.

First inside pocket

Second inside pocket (This is closest to original colours, by the way)

And my tag (this is the first project on which I put a tag)

Newspaper Boat - Made with <3 (love)

I'm really happy with how it came out =)

This looks familiar!! XD I made a giant squid bag for a harry potter swap a while back. I think yours turned out AMAZING! I love how you attached the squid - it looks much nicer than my painted one. Smiley

Really? I hadn't seen it! I wasn't really inspired by anything other than my friend's interests lol.
I considered painting it, and probably would have if I hadn't found this amazing pleather while I went to the store for purple fabric. Do you have a link to your bag?

This is beautiful. I love everything about it: the size, the colour choice for the squid, the squid itself, the pockets, the diagonal zipper pocket - it is fantastic.

What helped me out is this amazing tutorial by Autumn http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/2007/07/tutorial-zippered-and-slip-pocket-tutorial/

Sewing a diagonal zipper isn't much harder, you just have to watch out for the strechy-ness in the fabric when you sew along the diagonal. I'm not sure if this makes sense hehe...

I first tried a diagonal zipper for my polkadot bag http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=374117.msg4406645#msg4406645 and fell in love with it! It's really comfortable to use too!
