Two Huge T-Shirt Quilts

I had way to many tshirts lying around that I did not want to get rid of, but also wasn't going to wear... so I made a quilt! My sister liked mine so I made one for her too. The striped border is made with the backs of the shirts, so the colors match.

My squares are 12" x 12". I just used that size because I had a plastic square that size, and with a rotary cutter it was super quick to cut them all.

these are great! i'm usually not a fan of t-shirt quilts, but you've managed to make it look really nice! the border was a great idea and helped pull the whole look together.

I love your quilt.  The band around the edges looks great!  Did you use any kind of stabilizer on the back of the t-shirts? What kind of fabric did you use as the backing and is there batting inbetween?

I didnt use any type of stabilizer (I didn't even think of it, but I didn't have too much trouble without one). I used a flannel backing because I wanted it to be warm. But I recently made another one for a friend and used just a plain cotton backing cause he said his dorm room is roasting. And I used a 1/4" loft polyester batting.

The borders really make these look pulled together.  I have a bunch of tshirts waiting to become tshirt quilts, this gives me some inspiration.

I LOVE these. The borders are perfect... haven't seen those types of borders on a t-shirt quilt before. I want one just like it.
