Canadian Postal Strike

If anyone is sending within Canada Canpar is actually cheaper for packages than Canada Post, but I'm not sure if they ship across the border.

NDP is going to try its best to delay the legislation.

Keeping in mind the Conservatives have a majority government this time (boooo), so really, while the NDP can probably play some delay tactics, I strongly suspect that it will end up going through.  I am not displeased by it, but I do think it is pretty low that in the legislation tabled, they are giving the workers less than the last tabled offer.  If you couldn't see it before, you can definitely see the Con bias against the worker in this - I can't see this making any postal worker happy.  This, and the back to work legislation passed on the CAW workers for Air Canada a week or so ago does not bode well for arbitration for workers in the future IMO, which does affect contract negotiation trends for those of us who cannot strike as well.

Well, the MPs voted in the legislation, so it has to pass through the Senate, and they will probably be back to work later this week!

canada post will start back up today.  mail should begin moving and being delivered by tomorrow!

I just got word from a UK swapper that Royal Mail are not accepting any mail for Canada until the strike is done.

It looks like everything should be operational by tomorrow, so hopefully things should get moving again.

Im really glad this got sorted out so i dont have to worry about not being able to ship on time.

Im not sure if what he did was right for the workers, but if he didnt get them back to work our economy wouldve taken a big hit, though it still took a small one. Alot of businesses were really affected and if they didn't start working again they couldve ended up having to close. I think if all of canada's economy is so strongly affected, like it is, then the government should do something about it so the economy doesnt crash.

Hi everyone, I know this is a tough topic as we all love our mail but feel for the workers....but lets try and keep on the topic of mail as pertains to swapping, thank you!

and I just want to note that I had mail in my mailbox today!  just bills but still it was nice to see
