heck yeah tomato pincushions!!

y'all, i love tomato pincushions. i collect them, i display them, i stick pins in them. i love them so much, i have one tattooed behind my ear.

and now, i make them!



the pattern is one i drafted myself, although it's not very complicated - just 6 long elipses with slightly pointed ends, sewn in an alternating pattern. they are stuffed firmly with polyfil, and there is a little bit of rice at the bottom to keep them weighted down the tops are just acrylic felt & a vintage button! aren't they fun, though!













what do you think? any color combinations that are particularly awesome... or ::gulp:: dreadful? i'm thinking about having a little tomato pincushion booth at this summer's tomato art festival in my city

These are so cute. I just have a plain red one myself that I got from my great-grandma (I think?)

Btw... I absolutely LOVE your hair color. Is it natural? I dye my hair red because i prefer it over my natural color but it has never been as bright and wonderful as yours looks. Sorry if I'm being creepy, but I just love red hair. Haha

thank you! no, i'm not a natural redhead... although i feel like i should have been one  i use l'oreal excellence hicolor red in either red fire or copper red (depending on my mood)... you can get it at sally beauty supply i am actually about to make the switch to henna, the reds you can acquire that way are beaaautiful. and it's good for your hair! double win!
