Altered book-- Pic Heavy!

I made this altered book for a friend's birthday about a year ago!
I had dreams of making more pages and adding finishing touches, but alas i surrendered that dream and finally  gave it to her!

I don't know i'm sure you could search for one and you'd get some tips if nothing else. I don't have a particular method i just took an old book and starting turning it into somewhat of a scrapbook. the one thing you have to be careful of is picking a book with sturdy binding that will be able to handle everything you add.

I think the part I have the hardest time figuring out is how to paint the pages. Do you paint them all at once, or paint 2 pages then let it dry for a day then paint more the next day, etc.

And when/if you do, what type of paint do you use?

Wow!  Now i have a perfect idea for mothers day.. Thank you soo much for posting. It looks fantastic. Did you have to rip out alot of pages to make room for all the stuff you added.

I worked on one spread at a time. It takes me while to complete a page because i'm a bit of a perfectionist, so i never had to think about painting more than one page at a time! i'm pretty sure you could though, depending not the paints you use. I used acrylic paint and i found that it dried pretty quickly.

Thank you! I did rip out a lot of pages. i tried to do it artfully and incorporate it into my design, but i've found if you don't rip out pages then it puts a lot of stress on the binding.
