Rockin' It Retro Style (50s Style Cherry Dress & etc.)

So, had this pattern and fabric for well over a year with every intention of making this dress. Even after seeing and being inspired by mclied's cherry print version of this dress (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=361709.0), it still took me until April to make it. My impetus/excuse was that I could wear it to my cousin's wedding (this past memorial day weekend).


Retro Butterick '52 Wrap Dress (B4790)

My issue with this dress was that the front piece was very fitted, yet the back skirt was a full circle, so it looked limp without a crinoline...



...and would not lay correctly over one...



My solution: two godets put into the front, beginning where darts terminate...



Yay! No -well, less- wrinkles!

I have started this pattern, but never finished it because I didn't care for the front piece...your solution is Brilliant!  Oooo...and I love the two cherry prints together, either one alone would've just been cute...but together they're fantastic.

That came out really nice.  I've been meaning to make one of these, but I'm not terribly fond of the straight skirt part in the front.  This is a great idea!
