I didn't notice if there was a forum for this, so I thought I'd ask here.

Anyone have any tips when photographing items for sale?

By far the easiest, and cheapest way I have found to take professional quality photos is with a lightbox. There are tons of tuts online on how to do it. All you need is a cardboard box, poster board, white material, a lightbulb, and a lamp. So for under $10 you can create professional photos. If you have any other questions, or need help with it let me know.
