Recently my daughter has started ballet classes and she loves it. Her cousin, who also does ballet, had a very pretty and fluffy tutu that she wore in a presentation. My daughter requested one. After finding out what they had paid for my little cousin's tutu, I decided I could probably make one simular for less.
After three days of working on it, here is the final product of my efforts and my daughter loves it.
The tutu has two layers of toole and three colors. It's also reversable and has the pink, purple and blue on one side where the blue and purple show more than the pink. The other side has more of the pink showing and only shows small bits of purple and blue. I also added teal ribbons that can be flipped over and seen from both sides, though I dont think you can see them in the picture.
The photo was taken after stretches and before the shoes go on, so the skirt is a little screnched and in disarray. If I get a better picture I will post it. For anyone who tries to make one of these my biggest piece of advice is make sure you do your measuring without baggy clothes on. I didn't think a t-shirt would make that much of a difference, but it does. Lesson learned.
Thanks for looking.
