here's a lil gal i gussied up for my partner lanikins in the day of the dead swap! she's a master plushie maker so i knew if i was gonna do a doll for her it had to be something special. i went thrifting and was actually eyeballing an old porcelain doll in wedding gear to dress up - had about decided to go back and snag her when i saw this gal on sale for a whopping $5!!!! my grandma had a couple of these gals on her piano when i was a kid...

she was looking kinda rough and a bit dusty and the hat HAD to go but the potential was definitely there!

took her home and stripped her down.....

a little doodling....

base coat...

detail work....

add a lil lace on her bloomers and a fancy garter belt....

toss the slip, strip rotten lace off petticoat and add a new strip around bottom - re-attach petticoat with straight drop in front and remainder bustled up in back....

re-attach skirt, gathered/stitched into a bustle on back...

tack up the front of the skirt 'cause any self-respecting catrina shows a lil leg, add a ribbon in her hair and around her waist to match her garter belt, and embellish with some fancy beads and voila!!!! fancy lil dead gal ready for a new home!  Grin

so there she is! i hope you like her! i've really gotta go on the hunt for more of these lil glamour gals 'cause i've got about a million different ideas i'd like to do with them now and they tend to fall apart as they get older so you don't see them around much..... hope you like her! c&c welcome!
