A friend talked me into participating in the Columbia Festival of the Arts "Ready Set Grow!" community art project. The theme this year is to decorate a wooden planter. This is what I came up with. Enjoy!

Beautiful!  I love all the textures and details!  (although I did not see a bird)   Lovely and impressive work!

Crocheting is like prostitution.  First you do it for love, and then for a few close friends, and then for money.  Maybe that is why they call us Hookers?

@meleriffic: It took me about 2 weeks. There was a lot of paint prep before I could glue the beads and mirror on, then there were coats of sealer to paint on and let dry, then the final acrylic sealer.

@everkutz: hint: look in the details pictures.

I love it!! How did you paint the sky like that with the darks and lights? It kinda looks like decoupage.

@Minusxl3lindfold: I bought three little bottles of blue paint samples from Home Depot--each little bottle has a brush in it. I started with swirls of the darkest paint, then the medium paint, then the lightest paint, allowing for drying time in between. I used a tole brush to dabble the lightest blue paint on to lighten up some of the sky and to soften the quality of the sky. I also used the tole brush to create the illusion of hills.
