Brand: Janome

Model: AQS2009

Year: 2009

Cost: About $250

How long have you had the machine? Less than 1 year

Is it a basic sewing machine, serger, or embroidery machine? Sewing/Quilting Machine

What are your favorite features? Electronic Speed Control

What are some of the unique features it has?
This is a computerized machine, and the speed control is my fave feature. Everything else is standard. This is a very basic model; the most inexpensive computerized machine I could find.

How well does it run? Fair to good. It skips stitches sometimes for no apparent reason, and it can't sew through really thick layers.

Has it ever broken or needed maintenance you couldn't do yourself? No.

What are your least favorite features?
No bells and whistles, the bobbin winder is kind of annoying but I think all Janomes have the same type, and the machine has all of the stitches printed on the front of the machine with their numbers instead of a keypad. I just think keypads are cooler.

Would you recommend this machine to a friend?
I would if my friend wanted a computerized machine and he/she didn't have much money to spend. Otherwise I would tell them to buy a Pfaff.
