There is a doll drive for the children of Japan. You make and send them to Colorado, USA, and they will be delivered to Japan.

For more info: http://www.curiouslotties.com/
Another site for doll drives: http://dollydonations.blogspot.com/

There are lots of free patterns on the web. And the Dolly Donations woman has a free pattern for a doll that can be a boy or a girl. I am in the "Monster Ninni Swap" and the pattern is free:

So join me, won't you? And thanks.

Thanks so much for the heads-up about this!  I'm really excited to have such a wonderful-cause-nudge to get to improving my plush-sewing skills. Cheesy

I'll try and see if I can make one on time.  Hopefully I can finish up my swaps and unearth my sewing machine.... Might get my Goose to be a cheerleader/encourager, he is persistant enough it might work.

Awesome idea smmarrt! I didn't get in on the Ninnie swap so I and decided to craft-along and have since made four of these cuties for my son and his friends. This totally gives me reason to make more of these and send them out to deserving kids. I like the idea of making these because, being monsters, boys can enjoy them too without getting cooties!! Cheesy

Once you make your dolls, can you post them so we can see the craftiness? Thanks!

Here are the little monsters I sent.  I really wish I had the time to make more, but figured every doll counted.

My son insisted that they needed hearts since it was on the pattern.  I think they really add to the cuddliness of the monsters.
