My daughter is learning to sew- our neighbour is teaching her (I can't sew). She would love to make some of these for Christmas presents. Given I know nothing...Is your material cotton with a print on top? What other types of material would work...I am gtoing to take her shopping to get some fabric. Thanks  Smiley

In one of the pictures, it looked like the selvage was hemmed on one side (the fabric had a white  stripe along the edge.)  I would  encourage crafters to cut off the selvage before hemming. Selvages had a tendency to shrink more than the rest of the material  when washed.  That would cause that hem to pucker  after washing.  Why take a chance.  Cut that 1/2" selvage off before you hem.
