I was a printmaking major back in the day....and I love Picasso's work.  I was admiring some of his line drawings and prints and figured, that might be fun to stitch!  So I traced this serigraph, "Head 1946".  Here is a link to the original image: http://www.globalgallery.com/enlarge/29823/
I printed out the picture, taped it to my lightbox and then traced with pencil.  I have to admit, it was somewhat thrilling to follow his lines.  His drawing just flowed so effortlessly and relaxing, and it allowed me to imagine watching him actually draw this image.  It felt a little...reverent, as crazy as that sounds.
Anyway, I wanted to really strive to keep the integrity of the line, so I referred to the picture often, trying to really get the same feel of the drawing.  I used one or two strands of charcoal grey embroidery floss, back stitch or stem stitch for the entire thing.
Thanks for looking!

I really love this design. I love Picasso too. I once made a cross stitch design using his sketch of Santa he drew for his children.

Thanks everyone!

Beautiful! I have had a set of Matisse line drawings on my to-embroider list for awhile now. I love your Picasso!

I was looking up some Matisse to embroider too, but then I got distracted when I found tons of Picasso drawings and started there.  Cheesy He had some wonderful drawings of birds and animals that seem to be one fluid continuous line... which Matisse drawings were you planning on doing?  Wouldn't it be awesome to make a set of throw pillows with this?  Maybe I should consider making throw pillow covers wtih these.....
