What if we aren't parked on a hill? by flannelmonsters (aka) embroidnerd, on Flickr
10" hoop
embroidery floss on flannel (original artwork)
So this is easily my most epic piece to date.  I'd say I put in a solid 20+ hours.  That includes time spent staring absentmindedly at it deciding what to do next.  I also end up ripping out and redoing things a few times on all of my hoops.  It was a 2 AM, quick draw a sketch before I pass out and forget it kind of idea.  I did more work with a single thread than I usually do because I wanted to get some nice details in (the mouse and the feathers on the hats).  I almost wish I had done this on a larger scale but it was pushing my attention span at this size so anything larger may very well have ended up in the permanent WIP pile.  It looks good on my wall so I'm calling it a success!  I'm still playing with the idea of adding some text but I think I'll live with it for a while and see if inspiration strikes.

You can check out my post about this piece and see some of my other work on my tumblr: http://embroidnerd.tumblr.com/post/5576780341/what-if-we-arent-parked-on-a-hill-10-hoop

Wow, I went to the link, your embroidery is really amazing, and nerdy. I like it! Cheesy I like the MST3K on a lot, very neat.

abso-freaking-lutely amazing.  there is just no way i would be able to put in 20 hours on one piece alone at this time.  you are to be commended, if not revered at this point.

great job!

This is wonderful!  The colours are so bright and vivid and I just love the concept, anything Alice is great but I can imagine them in this wacky scenario!

I absolutely love this. I've often wondered, how do you make your own artwork into an embroidery design?

Wonderful and whimsical, so awesomely stitched.  The VW bus caught my eye, my brother had one just like it.  Love your originality.
