pretty scarf + old tee = loveliness

So I haven't done any sewing in a while, but got inspired after browsing the reconstructed section here. I used a really pretty square scarf that I thrifted years ago, but never actually used, and an old t-shirt that fit nicely but had this awful glitter print that I had painted a looong time ago. And with our powers combined, you get THIS:









Super-duper simple. If anyone wants instructions, let me know!

Awesome! Here's a quick tute I threw together. Just ask if anything seems unclear, it's my first tutorial. I'm sure there are a variety of ways to do this, but being a noob, I just winged it!

I love this!  I've got a drawer full of scarves that I bought to go with outfits I no longer have, so this looks like a GREAT project for me to try.

OMG thanks for all the enthusiasm! I'm totally dying to make other variations on this design, too. If y'all make something from the tutorial, make sure to post (I don't know if you can link your thread to a reply in this one, maybe?) because I'd love to see!

I was thinking, since I'd like to make one that I can wear to work, about sewing the shoulders together in three or four places, accented with pretty buttons or beads, like a Greek (Roman?) chiton, sort of.

Also, I am really hesitant to cut up the two scarves I have, even though I never wear them (my dad brought them back from Singapore when I was a teenager, so they're mostly sentimental), so I'm thinking about just using some pretty silky fabric.  It's more hemming, but I think it'd work the same way!
