I finally got around to making a poppet for my hubby. He's a big fan of RA Salvatore's dark elf books, so I decided to make Drizzt for him Smiley

Without further adieu, here he is in all his poppety glory

From the back

And without the cloak

Now for some more details. His armor was made out of a dragon/snake skin looking suede/pleather. It was made to resemble drow warrior leather armor, complete with leather scales on the sleeves and pants. The scales are all hand stitched on.

Arm scales

Pant scales

He has boots to match the armor and the pants are cut high in the front and back to allow for more freedom of movement.

Drizzt was a bit of an oddity in drow society, having lavender eyes instead of the typical red.

The cloak is called a piwafwi. It's fur lined along the hood because Drizzt eventually left the Underdark and the evils of drow society to live on the surface world, which was quite a bit colder than he was used to.

Drizzt was my first male poppet, and demanded to be anatomically correct. So I complied with his wishes

He's WONDERFUL! That armor is to die for! There's so much detail in him it's hard to focus on just one thing. That fur cape...can I have it in my size?  Cheesy  Squire, he's just Perfect! !11/10

Holy cow Squire. You put so much work into your poppets. His armor is amazing. I think you have more patience than I do.

Actually not as much as you would think. I've been doing what I did with her poppet for about 8 years, so it wasn't too bad. Not even my biggest project, though I'm really proud of it Smiley

Drizzt's armor starts off with a simple shirt and pair of pants then I cut out a bunch of scales that I hand stitched onto the base piece. That's what gives it the layered look. It's meant to emulate leather scales, which make the armor more likely to turn a weapon.

WOOOOW. You're a pro!! I really like the dragon scale effect. It's a great alternative to just plain shirts!!  Grin You make it look so effortless though it's so well done. Wish I could see it in person.  Smiley Is hubby happy with him? ^^
