i've been creating a sci fi dinner set for my other half (see here for the other thread: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=361599.0 )
since the design was to be painted inside a bowl (which is awkward to say the least...) i wanted a simple design. i decided to do Crichton's module from farscape but when i had finished the simple line drawing i felt it lack enough detail...before i knew what i was doing i had started shading Undecided
i now have a bowl which doesn't quite fit the style of the other pieces Roll Eyes

below is a WIP shot...

painted on premade bisque with black underglaze. i watered the glaze down and used it a little like ink. i used a rubber to help clean up the highlights (since the black tends to stain the bisque you wont get the brilliant white with this method but it enables you to achieve a degree of shading) like ink you need to wet the entire area you are working first or suffer tide marks Tongue
if the piece you are working on has lines and ridges from throwing you may need to sand down the area first otherwise the 'ink' sits in the grooves and will give a lined finish.

parts of the design works better than others but im not displeased with this Smiley
the design is approx 2 by 3.5 inches

my friend bought me a box of these little guys before christmas last year but i was so busy i didnt get a chance to paint them until now
they are premade bisque shapes from Cromarti. painted with black and yellow underglaze, dipped in clear dipping glaze and fired.

7 down, 5 to go Grin
as always comments or advice are more than welcome Smiley
