Here is my newest specimen from my project, The Marcus Kelli Collection

Photographs by Ren Dodge

If anyone is interested how I made him:
I made a wood structure that I wrapped paper towels around to get the rough shape, then I use masking tape to wrap around the paper towels to hold them all together. Then I paper mache over the tape and use melted beeswax and cut faux fur with a bit of paint for the fur (in a nutshell)
the whiskers are made from the ends of a broom!

here is my old post where I explain the Marcus Kelli Collection a bit better

And my website if anyone's interested

Thanks for looking! C&C welcome!

Oh I do love him! Much less intimidating than a regular sized walrus and infinitely more pettable Cheesy

This is really interesting and unique! I've checked out your other posts and your homepage concerning the Marcus Kelli Collection and I am fascinated. All the detail is truly amazing and I love how much effort and dedication you put into this. Also, I think it's wonderful that people have the opportunity to touch some things. I'd love to go see your exhibition and that is really saying something. ( My parents treated me to an overdose of museums and exhibitions up to the time when I was 16. Resulting from that, even though I'm of course interested in all the art that is out there, I'm highly allergic to the concept of museum- or artgallery- going Wink)
What inspired you to come up with Marcus Kelli and all his fascinating adventures?

Very cool. I just saw your other posts for the first time, and I'm impressed at how much effort you put into creating not only the creatures themselves, but their natural history too! I hope that someday I can see a collection in person  Smiley

That thing is AMAZING! speechless.

and thank you so much for sharing how you made him, cause i always look at this kind of work as 'oh, it`s soooo beyond me i don`t even wanna think how to make one'- so now knowing all the things you used and can be used, i might try a small fun critter one day and will know, what to use Smiley

thanks!
